Remarks:
1. The output power should be AC Voltage to ensure efficient performance.
2. It includes a 2W470-560K Potentiometer for precise adjustment.
3. For SSRs with loads exceeding 10 Amps, mounting on a heat sink is mandatory. When loads surpass 80 Amps, choose fan-cooling or
water-cooling solutions for optimal performance.
Feature:
Experience seamless, high-speed, and high-frequency operation with our no-contact relays that utilize advanced semiconductors.
Complies with the RoHS directive for environmentally friendly applications.
Models are available without zero-cross functionality for tailored needs.
Features replaceable power elements for easy maintenance.
Meets stringent cULus and CE standards for quality and safety.
What is SSR?
Solid State Relays (SSRs) electronically switch power on or off to other devices, mimicking a mechanical switch's function. Unlike manual switches, SSRs operate electronically, allowing you to control high-power devices such as lights or appliances with low-current signals, such as a standard DC signal from a Digital Output. Most SSRs are activated by a voltage of 3V or more, making them ideal for use with Phidget Interface Kits or any device featuring a digital output.
SSRs provide similar functionality to Mechanical Relays, but offer several distinct advantages:
- SSRs generate significantly less electromagnetic interference than mechanical relays during operation. This reduction is primarily due to the absence of contact arcing in SSRs, a phenomenon where mechanical relay contacts spark internally when switching. Furthermore, SSRs do not employ electromagnets for switching, reducing interference.
- While the switch contacts of mechanical relays degrade over time due to arcing, SSRs boast a longer lifespan owing to their fully digital internals, capable of enduring millions of cycles when used correctly.
- SSRs switch on and off more rapidly than mechanical relays, with a speed of 1ms compared to 10ms.
- SSRs are more resistant to physical vibrations compared to mechanical relays.
- As SSRs don't incorporate a mechanical switch, they are immune to contact bounce and operate in complete silence.
How does it work?
Internally, the control inputs connect to an LED that casts light across an air gap to a sensor. This sensor, in turn, interfaces with transistors that open or close, enabling power supply to the relay's load. Once a transistor is closed, current can flow smoothly through the relay, connecting the load and power supply. Conversely, when a transistor is open, it blocks nearly all current, disconnecting the load from the power source. The LED and light sensor integration is termed an optocoupler, a widely used method for connecting circuit parts without a direct electrical link.
